The Portland Japanese Garden sits nestled in the West Hills of Washington Park, overlooking the city and providing a tranquil, urban oasis for locals and travelers alike. Proclaimed the most authentic Japanese garden outside of Japan, the site encompasses 12 acres with eight unique garden styles. It includes an authentic Japanese Tea House, meandering streams, intimate walkways, and a spectacular view of Mt. Hood. One of the foremost Japanese cultural organizations in North America, the Garden offers year-round exhibitions, demonstrations, and cultural festivals. A newly added Cultural Village – designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma – provides ample room to further explore and experience Japanese arts and culture. Open daily. See the Garden’s website for hours.
