The map starts with George in the twilight of the last millennium. He has always loved Portland and he’s always loved maps. His knowledge of tourism in the area through his long hotel career made it a ‘no-brainer’ enterprise, as he would say. Scotland and Brit, his sons, have been involved in various aspects of sales and delivery over the years. Brit finished school at Portland State and started developing the business in August of 2016. He seized the opportunity to grow when we partnered with Ben Powers, who like Brit has a more tech-forward approach to marketing. Jeff finished his degree at the same time and place as his childhood friend and former roommate, and Brit snatched up that talent. Scott was a long-time manager of a local bike tour company where Scotland was one of his guides. Scotland decided in the Summer of 2018 that everyone else was having too much fun, so he offered his services.
Brit has been involved in the Portland Visitor’s Map since he was doing deliveries a strong-backed teenager, but began his role as Development Director in 2016. Brit’s focus has always been to update our great product and bring the map’s presence increasingly online. Brit enjoys travel, mountaineering, cycling, and good craft beer. He lives in the Hawthorne District.
Scott joined the team at PVM in member relations in Spring of 2018. Scott is from New Orleans, but is still having a love-affair with Portland. For several years he managed a local bike tour company where he developed an excellent feel for tourism in the city. He loves riding bikes, exploring the woods, great coffee, and even better food. He lives in the Centennial area in far-East Portland.
George is the Owner and Publisher of the Portland Visitor’s Map, and he has some of the deepest tourism roots of any person in the Pacific Northwest. He started his career in hotels working for his father in Spokane, WA and has lived all over the country managing many hospitality businesses. George has owned the map for the last 20+ years. He loves to travel, read, support his Washington State Cougars, and enjoy events at the Oregon Historical Society. He lives in the heart of downtown in the Park Blocks near the Portland Art Museum.
Jeff is a longtime friend of the family, whose talents continue to be appearing every day. As the Administrative Assistant Jeff gets the odds and ends done to make sure that we get our product out there. Whether he’s creating web features, flying drones, or working with our partners at Powers Photography, he gets it all done so we can all enjoy Portland just a little bit more. Jeff is a runner, he loves soccer, and he lives downtown close to his alma mater- Portland State University.
Scot (officially Scotland) just found out that his title is ‘Creative Director’ at Portland Visitor’s Map. He thinks it’s weird to talk about himself in third person, but he’s worried that his little bio won’t fit with the others if he does it differently. He looks forward to creating engaging web content for visitors to Portland and to making Portlandmap.com as welcoming and informative as possible. He loves Portland and is excited to share it with others. Scot enjoys running, bicycle tour guiding, reading, and being a big nerd. He lives on Belmont Street.
